 With vibrant colors, an intensely personal style, whimsical borders and a touch of fantasy, Kim McDonald’s oil paintings capture the island spirit of the South Pacific. Her art accentuates the ever-changing moods of the tropical weather, the lush foliage, and the sensuality of the Polynesian people. The rich textures and loose brush strokes of this celebrated, and innovative artist are reminiscent of the Post Impressionists, and the Fauve tradition. Kim’s images reflect the unspoiled life of a bygone era in a style reminiscent of Gauguin.
She resides on the “Valley Isle” of Maui where she paints in her beachfront studio overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Her work can be seen in various galleries throughout Hawai’i, and is part of many private art collections.
