Jean Even (1910-1986)

Jean Even was a French painter. In 1932 he attended the School of Fine Arts in Paris where he was a student of Andre Devambez and Charles Francois Prosper Guerin.

He exhibited at the Salon in 1935 and won a gold medal in 1939. In 1936, he was awarded the prize of the Casa Velázquez. Because of the civil war in Spain, he used the award money to travel onwards to Fez, Morocco.

This led to the creation of numerous travel and airline posters (Air France, Maroc Air and others) for destinations in North Africa.
