Harvesting the Vineyard Grapes
DISPLAYING: 11" x 14" Giclée Art Print
This print by artist Kerne Erickson depicts the Boekenoogen Vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. Boekenoogen Vineyards is one of a number of wineries that produce delicious wines in this region. Although this AVA is primarily known for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Viognier, there are other varieties also being grown. The Santa Lucia Highlands AVA was registered in 1990 and is a sub AVA in the much larger Central Coast AVA. It currently has over 2,200 planted acres of wine grapes, most of which are planted in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Santa Lucia Highlands is also home to one of the vineyards that Wine Enthusiast Magazine named a California "Grand Cru" vineyard, as a recognition of the locations that produce the highest-quality wine grapes. Dominant soil types are gravely to sandy loam with silty and clay loam types.
Some of the other vineyards in this AVA are: Garys' Vineyard, Pisoni Vineyard, Mer Soleil Vineyard, Sleepy Hollow Vineyard, Costa Vineyard, Dos Rubios Vineyard, Las Alturas Vineyard, Paraiso Vineyards, Rosella Vineyard, Smith & lindley Vineyard, Vigna Monte Nero Vineyard, Hook Vineyard, Soberanes Vineyard, Silvio's Vineyard, McIntyre Vineyard, Hahn Vineyard, La Estancia, Double L Vineyard, Apex Vineyard, Sumida Sisters, Pessagno Vineyard, Doctor's Vineyard, Lone Oak Vineyard, KW Ranch Vineyard, Escolle Vineyard, Big Pond Vineyard, Poppy Hillside Vineyard, Sierra Mar Vineyard, Loma Linda and Smith Vineyard.
